Been a while. What have I been up to? Warhammering, mostly, and keeping my head firmly in the sand during this latest election cycle.
To that end, I feel compelled to express a few things before going as far away as possible from this impossibly stupid situation.
We have two ancient beings running for election to the highest office in the land. Both are unfit to serve as Walmart greeters, much less as president of this republic. However, I will grit my teeth and vote for Biden because even if he seems like the type of person who is ready for bed by 6, he also seems like the type of person who will listen to his teacher wife, his cabinet, and his party.
This is not to say that the democrats aren’t filled to the gills with just as many selfish assholes as the republicans, but I am saying that there are people within the Democratic Party that still push for some kind of useful change in the way our government works.
If Biden presents at least a chance of lending his ear to useful policy, Trump will only listen to the voices that will help him stay out of jail, get money, or feed chum to his shark-like cultists.
Our political system is fundamentally evil and anti-human. From gerrymandering to the electoral college to the pay-to-win necessity of running for office to its comfort with corruption to legislating against minorities to the media outlets that make all of this feel like the end of days just to attract advertisers, its all bad. It’s all pro-capital and anti-human, in spite of those few brave souls who actually try to use government to do good things.
I just want boring government that uses its organizational reach to spend my tax dollars on helpful things to make my life easier. I also know this is impossible.
So it’s back to the sand to paint orks, say my prayers, and not to spiral into existential dread.

Winners never quit.
